Child's Play

The infamous doll slasher, Chucky, invokes fear into everyone no matter their age. There's nothing scarier than a doll that is possessed by a strangler that wants to transfer his soul into a six year old boy, and that's facts.

The movie Child's Play was released in 1988, and was accompanied by many other scary horror movies that released in the 1980's. There are eight Chucky movies out right now, and all revolve around the same concept of Chucky murdering people and trying to transfer his body back into a human host.

Child's Play starts off with Charles Lee Ray, Chucky, in human form running from the cops. He eventually "dies" in a shoot out in a toy store but luckily transfers his soul into a Good Guy doll, a famous toy in the movie. The movie moves onto Andy Barclay, a six year old boy, who is making breakfast for his mom, Karen Barclay. It's Andy's sixth birthday and he really wants a Good Guy doll for his birthday, but they are very expensive and his mom can't afford it. Andy is sad but still appreciative of his other gifts, goes on with his day without a worry.

Later that night, after Karen gets off of work buys Andy a Good Guy doll from a homeless person. Karen arrives at home and gives Andy the doll, and makes him the happiest kid in the world. The next day, Andy is with his Aunt while Karen is at work and something strange happens. Chucky starts talking to Andy. Andy is put to sleep, and Chucky goes to work and kills Andy's Aunt by causing her to fall out of their apartment window. This leads to the cops thinking Andy killed his own Aunt.

The movie progresses with the cops trying to get Andy to confess to the murder, but Andy truthfully tells them Chucky did it. Cops obviously don't believe a doll would kill someone so they move on from that. Time goes on and Chucky kills more people and the cops believe a six year old boy is capable of this. Karen tries to get Chucky to talk but he won't budge. She threatens to throw him in the fire, and Chucky attacks her. She lives and Chucky escapes, and now has Karen believing Andy.

It's a very repetitive movie of Chucky getting away and killing people and then keeps trying to get his soul into Andy's. I won't spoil the end if anyone reading this wants to watch it, so watch it and see for yourself the full wrath of Chucky.

All in all this was a very good movie. I have also seen all the other movies and can say that they don't disappoint. It's very unpredictable and has lots of thrilling scenes. In my opinion, I give Child's Play a 9/10 due to the concept of a slasher doll coming to life. I think that's such a cool idea and it leaves you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Chucky is available to watch on Netflix, or buy it on YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, and the iTunes store. This is a must see horror flick.
