Stranger Things is a three season series about Will Byers, a kid from Hawkins, Indiana, going missing and his friends have to go search for him. Along the way they discover a strange girl, Eleven, who has telepathic powers. Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Eleven search for Will but need the help of Chief Hopper, Chief of Hawkins Police, and Joyce Byers, Will's mom. Hopper and Joyce find out that Eleven can find any person with her mind and discover that Will is trapped in a parallel universe called "The Upside down." Hopper and Joyce save Will and bring him home to his family to bring things back to normal. But things get even stranger.
In my opinion, the first season of Stranger Things was the best since we got to witness bonds being created and destroyed between characters. Bonds such as Mike and Eleven, Nancy, Mike's sister, and Johnathan, Will's brother, and Dustin and Lucas. I also liked how big of a role the Demagorgon, a monster, played. We got to see Eleven destroy it but then get trapped back in the upside down. Season one was also really interesting because there were lots of plot twists such as the fake dead body of Will. Another reason why Season one was the best was because we got to see Mike and Eleven like each other more.
Season two of Stranger Things was almost as good as Season one but I still thing Season one is better. We got introduced to new characters such as Max, and Billy. Will is back in Hawkins but is still not back to normal. He gets flashbacks to when he was in the upside down and he threw up a slug from the upside down. This slug later turns into a "Polywog" that Dustin wants to keep as a scientific discovery. I thought this was really funny because he used it as a prop in his Ghost busters costume. The Polywog then turns into a Demagorgon that looks like a dog and soon multiplies into hundreds of "Demadogs." Will also has a vision of what looks to be a giant shadow lurking over Hawkins. They discover it is called the Mind Flayer and it soon takes over Will's body as a host. I think that the Mind Flayer is a cooler monster than the Demagorgon but Season ones plot is still better than Season two. Meanwhile Will is being taken over, Eleven is living with Chief Hopper in the woods and is not allowed to see Mike or leave the house. In the end Will is saved by Joyce, Nancy and Johnathan, Eleven and Hopper defeat the Mind Flayer and things seem to go back to normal, but things don't as usual.
Season three comes around and it's the same thing as the last two seasons. A strange parasite takes over Billy and he soon starts to infect people calling it "The Flayed" since its derived from the Mind Flayer. Season three honestly got boring and they need to change things up. We have more new characters such as the beloved Russian Scientist, Alexei. He creates lots of humor throughout this season which is one of the best parts. In the end Chief Hopper destroys the machine that was keeping the Flayed alive and kills the giant monster that Eleven and everyone else were distracting, but Chief Hopper doesn't make it out alive.
In conclusion, I think that Stranger Things was a decent series up until Season three. It was annoying that they kept repeating the same story where a monster attacks and they defeat it. I give this series a 7/10. If the next season has a better story I will definitely rethink my rating.
